Few questions have provoked as much thought or as much debate – violent or otherwise — in human history as, “What is the meaning of life?” There are seemingly as many answers as there are people in this world, and even now, in the year 2016, with years of philosophical teachings behind us, we still struggle to reach any kind of agreement.
While I certainly have my own uncertainties about this age old question, I recently came across a powerful short video whose answer is hard to refute.
The video is produced by Moving Art, and is based on the poetry of IN-Q, who performs the piece alongside the animation.
Check it out, and see whether or not the answer it provides resonates with you:
All You Need Is Love
While the video certainly amplifies the potential power in relationship-based love, I want to first remind us all that true love always starts within. I firmly believe that all great partnerships begin with self love and acceptance, that each person involved must appreciate themselves for who they are before they can give freely to another.
Why Not Now?
I particularly appreciate the way this video calls us to immediate action. While love is, in many cases, strengthened over time, it is worth appreciating at any stage of its development.
Rather than waiting until you are 85, reflect on the love you have in your life right now. Even if you are not in a relationship, think of the love you share with friends or family members and cherish it for what it is.
Challenge yourself to make more time for the people that matter in your life. Too busy? Start by cutting out the time you currently spend perusing through the social media lives of those who don’t matter (as much) to you, and you may even find yourself bored with all the extra hours on your hands.
