Nuts and seeds can be a delicious addition to any day. They work so well in trail mixes or just alone, but did you know that they could actually fight disease like cancer and heart disease?
Eating nuts can decrease rate of heart disease and cancer and even extend the life expectancy rate according to many studies. In recent studies, results were seen in peanuts, pistachios, almonds, walnuts, and other tree nuts. And, researchers did not look at the way they were prepared being raw, roasted, oiled, or salted.
In the study, 119,000 men and women who ate nuts every day were 20% less likely to die during the study period than those who never ate nuts.
Researchers do not seem to know why nuts boost health. It could be there unsaturated fatty acids, minerals, and other nutrients that lower cholesterol and inflammation and reduce other problems, as many studies have shown.
But, the facts do show that within hours of being fed certain nuts like walnuts, they are able to suppress the growth of breast cancer cells in petri dishes. Other studies suggest that nuts have a hand in blocking colorectal cancers. Watch the video below to get the full study.
