When a news story pops up that involves some sort of abuse of a child, it’s hard to even read. While the seven victims were not seriously hurt or injured, the details of the crime show that this incident was no accident. The criminal justice system is about to lay down the law on this day care center and its owner.
A DURANT, OKLAHOMA DAYCARE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR ALLEGEDLY DRUGGING BABIES WITH BENADRYL SO THEY WOULD GO TO SLEEP
Not only is this a massive overstepping of their boundaries as these infants’ caretakers, they were administering a medication without parental consent. Furthermore, they didn’t know the medical history of the babies to know if any of them had an allergy. These babies are incredibly lucky that they didn’t have any adverse affects to the medication.

Employees were ordered to administer the medication to the babies to make them fall asleep at nap time. Benadryl is not to be given to children this young, and can make them stop breathing.

She noticed that he was incredibly sleepy, droopy, and not as responsive as usual. She reported that he would sleep for 12 hour long periods at a time, which is absolutely not normal.

There’s no doubt that this owner is in insane amounts of trouble, and the day care has been since shut down.

Jeff Wilson, a Bryan County Sheriff’s Office investigator, said that local law enforcement has opened up their investigation:”We’ve been investigating Sue’s Day Care here in Durant for alleged child abuse charges for giving children Benadryl to assist them to go to sleep at time.”
