Teeth-whitening has become one of the most popular treatments in aesthetic dentistry, according to a 2009 report by the American Dental Association. There are whitening toothpastes, gels, strips and even “gums” that profess to whiten teeth to a certain degree. While there are many over-the-counter products, you can whiten your smile with an at-home treatment by using hydrogen peroxide, which is inexpensive and used in many teeth-bleaching products.
Gargle with hydrogen peroxide twice daily. Just take 1 tsp. of hydrogen peroxide and swish it around in your mouth for about one minute. Spit it out and then brush your teeth with a toothpaste.
Make a paste with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Take 2 tsp. of baking soda and mix it with 2 tsp. of peroxide. Apply the paste to your teeth with your toothbrush or a finger. Allow it to sit on your teeth for two minutes for extra whitening. Rinse your mouth after two minutes. Brush with a toothpaste after rinsing.
Make a toothpaste with peroxide, salt and baking soda. Mix 3 tsp. of hydrogen peroxide with 2 tsp. of baking soda. Add 1/2 tsp. of table salt. Add a drop of toothpaste and mix evenly. Then brush your teeth. You can leave the paste in your mouth for two minutes to achieve more whitening.
