Somehow, some way, in Sweden, a very peculiar person had the idea to add a raw egg into their coffee. Sounds weird, I know, but apparently throwing in an uncooked egg into your morning brew actually makes for a much tastier, smoother, and generally more pleasant cup of Joe.
A method used to ameliorate crappy coffee(e.g. pre-ground stuff you have at the office), adding a beaten egg is supposed to make your brew much creamier, while also cutting bitterness. Pretty good deal, especially when you’ve only got Folgers on hand.
To make some Swedish Raw Egg Coffee, crack an egg into your coffee grounds before you get brewing. Mix in a bit (1/2 cup) of cold water to form a paste, then boil a pot of around 6 cups of water on the stove. Add in your coffee ground-egg mixture and let it brew for about 3 minutes. No real risk of salmonella ‘cuz your cooking the raw egg, and who knows, you may have found the perfect coffee hack. Mornings couldn’t get much worse, and the protein from the egg may actually add a decent protein boost to make coffee an even better hangover cure. My fingers are officially crossed.
