When Jourdan Barovick and Ryan Spencer went on a blind date in 2004, they assumed they were meeting each other for the first time. But unbeknownst to them, the pair had already crossed paths over a decade earlier — and Jourdan’s family had the old home movie to prove it.
As they discovered while watching it, Jourdan and Ryan had been at the same place at the same time when their respective families took trips to Sesame Place in 1988. How? In the clip, you can see a 10-year-old Jourdan talking to her mother in the water park when a then-13-year-old Ryan pops up in the frame.
“We did a complete double-take,” Jourdan told NJ.com. “We paused, we rewound, we paused, we rewound, over and over again.”
Their minds were most certainly not playing tricks on them. After a few comparisons of the boy in the video to old pictures of Ryan, the couple, and even friends and relatives, are absolutely positive it’s him.
“I got a chill at first,” said Ryan. “I couldn’t believe it was me, and then it became kind of a romantic thing.”
But their story doesn’t end there. In October of 2007, the pair tied the knot and have since had three kids together. They even took a family trip to Sesame Place last summer where they told their eldest daughter what happened.
Upon hearing her parents’ account, the 6-year-old thought it was “crazy,” and seeing the video only has her more amazed.
“Sophie just keeps saying, ‘How did Daddy know you were there?'” Jourdan said.
