Have you heard about the “National No Bra Day”? This day is celebrated on October 13th and its purpose is to raise breast cancer awareness and gather money for further research on this topic.
Some women love bras and wear them all the time while some are against wearing them. Not long ago, a scientist discovered something shocking which will definitely make you think twice before you put on your bra the next time.
Bras Under Fire
A recently conducted study found that wearing bras has a detrimental effect on women`s health. A sport science researcher named Jean-Denis Rouillon done a 15-year study on the effects of bras in women aged 18-35. At the end of the study, he found that wearing a bra doesn’t offer breast support in younger women but it has the opposite effect. According to the researcher, women who didn’t wear bra during the study had a 7mm, lift in their nipples and that the ones who wore a bra had reduced breast tone and restricted blood circulation.
To Burn the Bras or Not?
First of all, it is important to mention that the women who didn’t wear bra during the study did so willingly. According to a doctor who didn’t participate in this study, not wearing a bra increases the collagen production, improves the elasticity of the skin and it enhances the breast lift. Even though this study provided some interesting results, scientists believe that it shouldn’t be taken too much seriously as only 330 women participated in the study, which is a small number of participants for a study on this topic.
Scientists claim that further research on this topic is essential! Some women wear bras for other reasons besides breast support and it is important to wait for other results and see how wearing bras really affects woman`s health. Therefore, we should wait before deciding to burn them or not.
